You probably know Soho and went down there to the lower east side a few times already, but for those of you who don’t,
it’s a trendy area with small little local boutiques as well as large international chain stores. If you just stroll along the well-tread
and tourist-ful Broadway path, you’ll run across all the standard names: Urban Outfitters, H&M, Zara, Forever 21 (though the one
right by us in Union Square is far better), Express, Bloomingdale’s, Sephora, Topshop, and probably all your other favorites.
And this is all within the boundaries of East Houston (which is right around where 194 Mercer is, that building they like to stick your Friday 8:00 am recitations in)
and Canal Street. If you’re feeling adventurous, there are actually streets that shoot off of Broadway like Spring Street and Prince Street where you’ll find stores
like J. Crew and Brandy Melville and the serious high end and ridiculously trendy boutiques.
But Soho isn’t just shopping. When you’re done with clothes, stop at Baked by Melissa (529 Broadway) or Balthazar (80 Spring Street) for some sweets.
How to get there: well, you could walk by just heading west to Broadway and walking South from there, but if that’s too much you can just take the N or R train downtown to Prince Street and you’ll be safely near the middle of Soho.
