The University is committed to maintaining the safety of our community. This week is National Fire Prevention Week (October 6-12), and is a great time to take a moment to review steps you can take to prevent and be prepared for a fire where you live, study, and work.
Fires can strike at any time and in any place without warning. In the event of a fire, or if you smell smoke, the acronym R.E.A.C.T. provides a guide to follow:
R – remove persons in immediate danger.
E – ensure doors are closed.
A – activate the building alarm.
C – call the Fire Department (911, if in the US).
T – treat ALL fires as dangerous.
